~Copperstate '99~

Copperstate is one of the EAA's largest fly-ins in the country.   (behind the big two of course)  I have attended for the last 4 years now, and it keeps growing and growing every year.  This year all of the exhibitor booths were completely sold out.

You can view the Copperstate website for more information.

Keep your eye on this page, as I will post images of RV's and other planes and activities that made it to our great fly-in in the desert.  I am sure that we will see the mugs of some fellow RV-Lister type people here over the weekend!

10/7/99:  First day of the fly in.  People are still arriving, and everything is pretty much dead.  No pictures were taken, because I wanted to wait until the place was full.  Keep an eye out here on Friday night about 9:00 mountain time, and the pics will be uploaded then.

10/8/99: Ok..the Arizona equivelent of Mecca.  Lots of RV's were here today..my best count was 24, but that may change tomorrow.

Rather than bore you with text, I am just going to post a bunch of photos of the RV's that were worthy of taking up the space on my digital camera. (Not to mention, I am REALLY tired right now!)

This plane gets a bigger picture..it was georgous...Grand Champion at Oshkosh, too. I would not be surprised if it wins at Copperstate.

Here is the much discussed  Lift Reserve Indicator (LRI).  I must admit this thing is pretty cool.  The blue light is your "real" stall speed.  You can fly your airplane much closer to its "real" limits, and just keep listening for the loud beeping noise if you are getting close to a stall.   Moreover, it is a unit that shows you airspeed, while providing an angle of attack indicator.  You can forget about your airspeed indicator, if you have one of these babies.  They have an analog version as well, but this one is much easier to set up and calibrate for your airplane.  For more information, check out their website, http://www.liftreserve.com/

Here is Gary's cowl hinge solution.  He took Van's hinge piece method and riveted it to the back side of this cap that he uses to keep the hinge from coming out.  The cap also doubles as a handle to pull the pin out.
