~Engine Page Three~
Earl's brand steel braided hoses are used instead of the more expensive Aeroquip hoses. You can purchase these very high quality race car hoses from your local speedshop, or you can get them from an Earl's Distributor, like W.M Engineering. Plan on spending $500 or so for firewall forward hoses. This stuff aint cheap, but I did save some signficant dollars by going through a distributor instead of a local retailer. The hoses will be pressure tested to 2000 PSI at a local FBO.
Here the fuel flow sensor for the uMonitor is plumbed and installed.
Ammendment: The sensor has to be mounted with the wires up, to prevent vapor lock. A brace was fabricated to provide a flat mounting surface.
Here the Robbins heat muff is installed. The air supply comes from the back side of the baffle, where the air is partially preheated by the cylinders. I'm told that I should be quite toasty inside with this muff. It's design is much simpler than the Van's muff, and it fits. I found that the Van's muff was too long. It would not sufficiently clamp on the exhaust.
Rocky Mountain EGT probes installed in the exhaust.
Rapco Vacuum pump installed. The pump comes in a kit that includes all the necessary hardware and hoses, including vacuum gauge, regulator, filter, fittings, etc. You do not need the special vacuum pump wrench to install this pump. I was able to reach all nuts with a traditional wrench. |
