~Wiring~
This page is for the fuselage wiring. I have put all of the panel wiring on the panel pages. Ok. Here comes the fun stuff. I have just begun wiring, and I am already confused. It is going to take quite a bit of noodle nocking to keep track of all the wires. Martin at Aerotronics put it best, "Just do one wire at a time." Here is the heart of the electrical system. You can see where I had to make a provision for the wires to come out of the battery box. The photo on the right has the master and starter relays wired in series, and Bob Knuckolls ground block. The ground block provides a single point of ground for everything, and has a pass-through bolt so that you can ground the engine.
I am using a pair of Infinity military style stick grips. You can see a picture of them here. The electric flap switch has to activate a relay. After several hours of head scratching, I finally figured out where all those contacts go!
I will show the connection of this relay when I get it wired to the flaps and the switch. Correction: After I thought I had conquered this thing, I realized that you need TWO relays to make this possible. Not to mention I had it all wrong. So, the relay in this picture does not exist anymore, after I took an X-Acto and a soldering iron to it!
Then when you figure it out: (again) Notice the Matronics Governor for the electric elevator trim. There is another relay and terminal block just like this one on the passenger side. If you want to see how to wire your flap switches on each grip, I have put together a wiring diagram, that will show you how to do it.
Oh boy, here we go...I have a relatively simple VFR panel, and look at these wires.....lots of wires..my brain feels like these wires look. Just try not to think about how much you have to do. Do one wire at a time.
I got this tip from Martin at Aerotronics. He said some day it you will thank yourself for doing the extra work to put in a circular connector to facilitate easy removal of the panel. There are other wires that did not make this connector, but this is the bulk of them. I sure hope he was wrong. I don't want to take the panel out ever again, but it still seems like a good idea!
